A PROMISE IS A PROMISE

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.(II Corinthians 1:20)

What if you had a father who could not lie and could not break his promises? So many times in the natural our parents tell us they will do something, but something else comes up to prevent it from happening. Most people think that this is not the case with God, but like any parent, God has conditions. His conditions are our obedience to his word, our faith in Jesus Christ and our patience that he will accomplish all he promised us. Look at Abraham, whom God saw as faithful. He became the father of many nations and had so much wealth that he could not see all the land he owned. All this was long before Jesus ever came to earth in the flesh, and if Jesus came to fulfill all promises then how much greater are our promises? But some how we’ve become a “barely getting by” generation; who has been taught to “just be content with what you have and don’t expect for more”. How contrary to the Bible is our mindset these days. The word of God which tells us he desires more than anything for us to be blessed with prosperity and health (III John 2). The word that said Jesus himself was the fulfillment of these promises (Luke 1:72-73). Jesus himself who tells us that whatever we desire (not just need) we simply have to ask it of Him and He will give it to us (Mark 11:24). But no, we’re much more content with being the whimpering and whining children of God, and then we wonder why the world sees nothing attractive about us. Did you know the riches of the world were meant for us? That car the drug dealer is driving should be yours. That house the man stealing from people is living in is where you should be living. The vacations, the properties, the jewelry . . . all the riches in the world should be ours and all God asks of us is to be obedient to his word, patient, and have FAITH (Hebrews 11).

Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
(Romans 4:16-25)
