For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
(II CORINTHIANS 10:4)
Why does it not surprise me when I look around at most Christians these days? They’re barely getting by, depressed, disease stricken and lacking joy and happiness. I cannot believe the victory that we as Christians have allowed Satan to have over our lives. Can someone please tell me the glory God gets in a family of five who can barely feed their children? How does God get glory in seeing this family have to use hand me downs to clothe their children? What glory is God getting out of someone in the prime of their life dying of cancer or drug overdose or something like that? Do people honestly believe that God gets some sort of sick glory in watching a mother suffer a miscarriage or having to burry her child before she even takes him to school? And yet these are the things we blame God for every day. We go around telling people who suffer these things that it must be “God’s will”. How do we expect to lead people to the Lord if we ourselves cannot walk according to how God wants us to? It doesn’t impress people when we tell them “Jesus loves you”, as we get into our beat up Saturn and have to go to the 99 cent store to buy our groceries. The biggest problem with Christians is that we are unprepared for our walk. We think going to church on Sundays (if that) is enough, but what we don’t realize is that we are in a daily battle against the lord of this world, Satan. We must daily stand in truth and righteousness, and stand firm in the gospel of peace, and protected by our faith and be able to fight with the word of God. And with all that we must be in constant prayer to walk the walk the Lord has called us to. If we were the prosperous and blessed people the Lord called us to be then maybe Christians wouldn’t have so many bad connotations. I challenge all of us to stand up and stop being the lazy, luke warm Christians we’ve become and to prepare ourselves in the way the Lord wants us to. We are warriors in the battle against Satan and the world, and the only way for evil to win is for us to do nothing.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(EPHESIANS 6:11-19)
